Good News! Our artist Eugenio Frosali has recently finished our cover art for Death Defiant and we are posting it here first. Eugenio has done a lot of our adventure art across our different modules and you can check out more of his fantastic work on his Artstation page.

We are also adapting the image for our Death Defiant bookmarks as you can see below:

Update #1: Antagonists & Agony

Meet Drar-Gath

In Death Defiant, the player-characters will find themselves to be living-impaired. As an antagonist to be encountered, the shadow-demon Drar-Gath agitates to break free of the temple and once again touch the wider world. Drar-Gath has for centuries been kept at bay by the Order of the Ascending Light, who works with a celestial patron to regularly summon the demon under controlled circumstances and do battle with it. Each time in the past, Drar-Gath has been defeated and banished back to its own dark realm, diminished and temporarily weakened. This time, something went wrong; the temple is damaged, acolytes are wounded or killed, and Drar-Gath lurks in the lower levels, biding its time and gathering its strength to break free once and for all.

All of the above information can be uncovered by players through investigation of documents within the temple, or by interacting with surviving members of the Orderof the Ascending Light. As they learn any of this, they may piece together rumors half-overheard or recalled from myth and local legend:

Players may align themselves with the demon, or work against it as they struggle to survive and escape the temple. Obstacles, terrors, allies, and boons await discovery as the players seek to defy death and find resolution to the crisis.
